MY MEMORABLE (?) 2010

Okay, to start off... HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! 2011 has come. Hopefully, this year I'll be more productive. Haha.   Be able to manage my time and everything I can do to lessen the stress of being a student...well,hopefully anyway.

Anyway, let's talk about 2010. A lot has happened last year for simple people like me, some good and some bad. Now I'm gonna tell you about it, my 2010. So if you're ready to be bored out of your mind, get ready to read my memorable(?) 2010.

My year of course started with January. January 1 to be exact. It's New Year and we were at home in La Trinidad, freezing outside at the balcony while roasting and eating hot dogs and liempo, well I do most of the eating anyway. This New Year, we decided to celebrate it at home with the cousins, uncles and aunties. It's no different from the other New Year's, well maybe the part that one of my cousins wasn't with us 'cause she's at Los Banos for a camping trip. Other than that, it's no different. Drinking beer, eating lots of food, singing off tune to song with the Magic Sing, netting, greeting other people Happy New Year and more eating. This holiday is the best 'cause it gives you the excuse to eat and eat and eat. It's awesome.

After January, we have February. February was sort of a hectic month because our organization has it's annual singing contest called BOSES. We had to prepare the contestants, venue, invitations, prices and everything for it to be perfect. It was a good thing I was part of the production or publicity committee so I only had to make an avp to be presented. The contest was, honestly, okay. We had a good turnout but we still lacked publicity but it was still a good start. It was fun, and our alumni was very supportive. They donated so much and helped out a lot. So, I thank them.

Now March... March, busy schedule for any student and teacher. Exams, projects, reports and final discussions. But for me, the highlight of this month would be when we had a field trip to EDSA Shangri-La to listen to them about food service. We had to wear business attire. We were served delicious foods and presented with how some dishes were prepared. We also had a guided tour of the hotel. We saw the well-decorated but very expensive rooms. One room was even being prepared to be used as a reception area of a wedding. It was so pretty.

April. BREAK. Summer vacation, supposedly. But the only thing that comes in mind would be my idiotic brother who fractured his leg. He was drunk and too lazy to walk through the overpass to cross the road, so instead he and his friends jumped over a fence to go to the other side. His foot landed differently and he fracture his ankle. He was still pretty much drunk when he came home. He stunk of beer and he was red faced. Anyway, back to his foot, his foot was pretty much swollen already. Since, it was past midnight already, we let him sleep and rushed him to the hospital where he was volunteering in the morning. When we got there, they x-rayed his foot and they said that it was broken and that he has to have surgery to screw the bones. It was funny how the doctors were talking to him and asking him if it was a basketball injury. It was a good thing that the hospital we went to was where he was volunteering because our fee decreased since he sort of works there and also the doctors knew my father and mother. After like a week, he was finally released. He had to use crutches for a month of 2 I think. My role in this story would be the watcher and the slave. I was his slave because he couldn't really walk so I had to fetch, carry and clean up his scar so it won't be infected. I'm guessing he felt grateful and guilty 'cause he paid me. Haha.

May. May. May???  When I had a free day from taking care of my brother. My friends from high school and I went swimming. It was supposed to be a batch swimming but only 10 came out of 42. Still, we had fun. It was great catching up with friends. One of the memorable things that happened would be when it was a friend of mine who was a girl who actually "gave life" to our barbecue grill. The guys didn't even let it smoke. Haha.

Our swimming trip had to be cut short because we had no car and the jeepneys stopped travelling at around 5 PM. Still, our trip was continued at the house of one of our friends and we ate the left overs there and went home.

June. Beginning of classes. Yay. The first day of classes is always intimidating but also great. I get to meet knew people and some of the teachers don't start discussing yet. It's fun to find out who from your friends are going to be your classmates. It suck sometimes when there's a subject where you don't know anyone. But still, we live.

July. My birth month. This birthday sorta sucks. I had duty on my bithday. My dad and brother even came to Makati to celebrate it so we would be complete, the six of us. But I had duty on that day, so they went out and had fun while I was at the hospital. Still, it was all good. We spent the evening together and ate out.

August... hmm.. we had our field trip for NASC8. We went to Calaruega and some other places, I forgot. The places were beautiful. Calaruega was so scenic. It was so serene there. The plants, landscapes and ambiance was so mellow. It would be fun to just sit staring at the sceneries while reading a good books or listening to music, forgetting everything for a while.

September. Talk about stress. Our organization has a newsletter and as the head for making it, it was stressful. Especially since the people assigned to make the articles didn't make any or aren't showing up. It was embarrassing how i asked for our deadline to be moved. But still, after a week, the paper was finally done. I must say, it was awful. It was rushed and the articles weren't that formal. But on the bright side, after many years of not making any newsletter, it was the best we could come up with.

Vacation yet again. October is hectic but peaceful? Well, mine wasn't really peaceful. I had to remove Chem160. It was tiring how I had to come back and forth from Baguio to Los Banos. The only thing  I can say would be, thank God I passed the exam and removed it.

Halloween. Well, it wasn't the highlight of this month. This month, I had my braces put on. I must say, it hurt a lot. The week following the placing of my braces, I couldn't eat well. It hurt to chew. It was a good thing that I finally had the hang of it after two weeks. It made me very insecure after I ate. I had to really check if there were any 'baons' stuck between my teeth. It was a weird feeling. I kept playing with my mouth even while walking at CPark. I must've looked weird from other people's point of view.

The year is ending. Yup, it's December. Birth Month of our saviour Jesus Christ. Highlights of this month would be our duty again but now in a commercial food service. We had our duty or exposure at Aloha Hotel. The four days that it took almost stole all my time for vacation. The duty was uneventful. We pretty much waited for the time to pass and say that we finished 40-hours. Another highlight would be, of course, Christmas. Our Christmas was celebrated for 3 days. First on the 24th at my auntie's house. We had delicious lasagna and california maki made by my cousins for dinner. It was great. As always, we sang songs again on the Magic sing. Drank and told stories until it was time to go home.

The second day which was Christmas day, we celebrated at my grandma's house. They prepared pinikpikan which is a local dish for us. I missed it a lot so I ate a lot. Haha. The men were pretty much drunk before we even ate lunch. An uncle was so drunk that he slept in front of the dining table and almost fell out of his chair.

Lastly, for the third day, we celebrated it at home. We again prepared pinikpikan, spaghetti, graham cake, tacos , mashed camote and vegetables. After eating lunch, my cousins and I went to my brother's room and watched a series until it was time for them to leave.

And that's how my 2010 passed by.
